This mural was produced in collaboration with local artist Nick Sweetman and the Mount Dennis BIA as a means of animating this historic commercial strip in north-west Toronto. It is a continuation of the pollinator themed murals Sweetman has produced across the city to enhance relationships between human and important pollinator species, especially bees.

Toronto is located in one of the most biodiverse areas in the world for bees, with over 300 species found in the city and surrounding area. It is because Toronto has been able to successfully preserve so much green space and allowed river corridors like the Humber and Black Creek to flourish with wild flowers and native plants, and several of these important habitats for native plants are located in the Mount Dennis community. Featured in the work are also bees from across the world’s coffee growing regions, highlighting the relationship between bees and coffee plants.

This project was made possible by the City of Toronto, the Mount Dennis BIA, Metrolinx and Supercoffee
