These workshops are facilitated by Branch Out Theatre‘s Artistic Director, Naomi Tessler.
Participants are first made comfortable through a series of theatre games co-facilitated by youth from the community. Local Youth Facilitators then take younger participants on a walkabout throughout the neighbourhood, during which participants are encouraged to think about experiences (good or bad) that they have had at different locations or how they feel in various spaces.
Participants are then supported in writing stories based on their experience in and perceptions of different spaces in the community.
Inspired by participant stories, collaborative performances are co-created by local children and youth, using tableaux and improvisation, where participants work together to illustrate each individual’s own unique experience through performing it.
